Respite Care at Rosewood

At Rosewood, we offer various different care arrangements, ranging from respite care, to specialised long-term care. We are proud to offer residential aged care respite at our both our West Perth and Leederville facilities.

What is respite care?

Respite care is a temporary care arrangement designed to give carers a well-deserved break, knowing that in their absence, their loved ones will still receive the attention and support they need. While being a caregiver is an especially important and rewarding role, it’s imperative that carers take some time to recharge, relax and nurture their own health and personal wellbeing. Arranging a respite care stay in one of our facilities is not only beneficial to the carer, but will also allow a loved one to enjoy their own space and independence.

Our aged care respite residents enjoy the same level of care and access to many of the services offered to our permanent residents. We strive to provide our respite care residents quality care and support that is tailored to their individual needs.

Often, elderly persons may use residential respite care as a way of trialling life in an aged care facility without having to make any long-term commitments. Additionally, residential respite care can assist people recovering from a recent stay in hospital who may require further support in order to regain their independence prior to returning home.

Eligibility for residential respite care

To determine eligibility for respite care in one of our facilities, a person needs to be assessed by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). If someone is approved by an ACAT, then fees associated with residential respite care may be subsided by the Australian government. This helps to make respite care more accessible and affordable for older Australians.

Eligibility may depend on factors including health, ability to manage independently at home, and the amount of support currently received. For more information about an ACAT assessment, follow this link prepare your assessment

The cost of respite care will depend on your individual circumstances. you may need to pay any of the following fees, depending on your circumstances:
• A Basic Daily Care Fee
• Additional Service Fees Edge Services (as desired)
